The development of eCOGRA’s in-house auditing expertise has enabled the organisation to expand the scope of its services. Initially, the mandate was for self-regulation enabling player protection. The services now extend to compliance, advisory and data analysis services to software providers, affiliate programs, online gambling jurisdictions and other industry-related third parties.

eCOGRA’s Safe and Fair Seal is awarded to those operators which comply with eCOGRA’s Generally Accepted Practice (‘eGAP’) Standards covering player protection, fair gaming and responsible operator behaviour. Applicants are assessed annually through a comprehensive onsite compliance review by eCOGRA auditors. On demonstrating compliance a report is submitted to eCOGRA’s Seals Compliance Committee for final approval.

The Certified Software Seal is awarded to software suppliers which are able to demonstrate compliance with the applicable eGAP Standards. The software supplier standards focus on the internal controls governing the development environment. The controls ensure the software is implemented, maintained and continuously operated in a safe, secure and reliable manner, and in accordance with best practice.

Ongoing data analysis is performed by eCOGRA on the live gambling data to ensure that operator games are random and fair. The output-based testing approach adopted by eCOGRA was pioneered by PricewaterhouseCoopers and is now widely recognised by the industry and associated jurisdictions as the most appropriate means of testing online gambling software.

eCOGRA is accredited as a Testing Agency by various leading online gambling jurisdictions, and regularly performs onsite and remote inspections to ensure operators comply with each jurisdiction’s respective regulatory requirements.

eCOGRA is also responsible for ensuring the European Gaming and Betting Association’s Members continually comply with the EGBA’s Standards and conduct their activities in a responsible, secure, safe and reliable environment.

The Affiliate Trust Seal is awarded to those affiliate programs that have been reviewed for compliance with the eGAP Standards applicable to affiliate programs, and are able to demonstrate that:

1. Affiliate revenue is calculated accurately and deductions are correctly allocated, and pay- ments are promptly attended to and completely and accurately processed;
2. Preventative and detective controls are in place to ensure accurate and correct linking of players to affiliates;
3. Affiliate program applications are developed, implemented, maintained and secured in a manner representative of best practice standards; and
4. Affiliate programs shall be able to demonstrate that they can recover from a system disaster.
